8th Grade Reminders

Hi Parents,

I know you have much going on and there are plenty of events happening already. Here’s a reminder for important dates that you all should be aware of:
1. Oct 13th next Tuesday is the date in which the funds are due for the Open Books Field trip on Friday Oct. 23, 2015 9 – 1:15p.m. 
I also need chaperones for this field trip! If you are interested, please respond to this email. Here’s the link to the website about Open Books and the field trip.

2. Oct. 15th 6-7p.m. is the 8th grade parent meeting. There will be several important things shared at this meeting. Please make time to be at this meeting. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please email Mrs. Cardona- Barton and I.

HR Holocaust Novel and Trip

Students and teachers will be reading a book together entitled: Children of Willesden Lane in their homerooms. Starting next Wednesday, students will be given a set number of pages to read for the week to be prepared for the homeroom discussion on the book.

If you are interested in reading the novel with your child and his or her teacher or would like to know a synopsis of the book, please click the link below.

Students who fail to complete or read the book, will not be allowed to attend the field trip for the play of the novel on October 30th at 10-1p.m. (field trip slips will be forth coming).

Hello families,

Attached you will find the middle school supply list for all subject areas. We hope that you have a wonderful summer.

8th Grade Book Collection

8th Grade text books and novels will be collected this week!

Any student who has lost or damaged their textbook will be given a “Lost/Damaged Book Slip” for the cost of replacing the book. The school may withhold transcripts until these fees are paid.

2015 Walkathon Fundraiser

Fundraising packets went home last week. The goal is for every family to raise $35. These funds directly impact students in the classroom! Classrooms reap the benefits of more supplies and technology! The walkathon will occur on Friday, June 6th. Help the Murray community raise a school goal of $16,000!

Letter for DC parents

April 13, 2015

Dear 8th Grade Parents,

We are pleased to announce that we have a substantial amount of 8th graders attending the Washington D.C. trip! There are enough students registered to secure the trip, accommodations, and price. To be sure that all parents receive pertinent trip information, we are having a mandatory D.C. parent meeting April 23, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. room 120.

This meeting will address expectations, detail the itinerary, complete medical and behavioral forms, receive trip materials, as well as provide parents with the opportunity to ask any questions to the Bright Spark representative. An ample amount of information will be given at this meeting, so please arrive promptly at 6p.m.

If you are not able to attend the meeting, please email Mrs. Patton as soon as possible to schedule a separate meeting before the trip. For any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the 7-8th grade team. Thank you again, for your support for the D.C. trip.

 

Reminder: D.C. Final Payment

Hello parents and families,

I hope you all are having a great day. It’s a bit chilly for Spring, but that just means the better weather is just to come. This is just a simple and brief reminder that the final D.C. payment is due this Friday, March 27, 2015.
